American Foods Group, LLC has an opportunity for a Vice President Operations.   The Vice President of Operations is responsible for the overall success of plant operations. This position will oversee our America’s Heartland, Packing, LLC facility in Warren County, Missouri to ensure effective processes and practices are in place to achieve business success, employee success, and compliance with all applicable food safety and health and safety regulations.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing a leading a strong and effective plant team, and for developing and maintaining a culture built on mutual respect, empowerment, ownership and accountability. The VP of Plant Operations plays a critical role in the success of the company, being an engaged leader and possessing strong business acumen.  This role reports to the EVP of Operations, but will also report to the Project Lead during the project build phase.    Direct day-to-day operations: - Develop and implement plant based operating strategies to create consistent run times and maximize yields and profitability both over the short and long term withing the plant - Work closely with the EVP of Operations to ensure alignment of plant operations with the production and profit targets for corporate operations - Collaborate with plant leadership daily to address issues, solve problems and ensure smooth operations in the plant - Participate in the company’s daily production call and provide updates related to plant production, challenges or issues - Ensure industry best practices are being used within the plant to achieve company sustainability targets, including water usage, waste reduction, natural gas and electrical usage - Provide leadership and motivation that results in a high performing managerial team. - Oversee all operations and business activities within the plant to produce results that are consistent with the overall strategy and mission. - Delegate duties or functions appropriately to managers and supervisors and other employees, and establish procedures and controls to assure completion of plant objectives. Build and develop a strong team that works together to maximize quality, yields, efficiencies, and bottom-line results: - Direct production facility management to ensure the facility is maximizing grosses, yields and plant efficiencies. - Provide guidance to the department and functional managers to ensure timely decision making and problem resolution. - Ensure that plant positions are filled with talented managers and an effective succession plan is in place for key operations roles. - Ensure all parts of the organization are sharing information to optimize sales, grosses and yields. Collaborate with AFG leadership and external customers to ensure optimal value is achieved: - Collaborate with the VP of Engineering to ensure capital improvement projects are on track to generate expected results. - Manage strategic relationships with other AFG locations. - Coordinate production and shipping with other locations and company logistics as needed. - Understand and communicate customer requirements to the facility to ensure products meet customer expectations. Ensure effective processes and practices are in place that result in compliance with government health, food and employee safety regulations: - Oversee and manage the food safety function in the plant and communicate regularly with the VP of FSQA to identify concerns, solve problems and ensure operating practices comply with regulations. - Direct the facility leaders to ensure all food, health and safety compliance practices are being followed. - Work with HR and Environmental Health and Safety leadership to ensure that competitive labor rates, skilled workforce, effective safety programs and low incident rates are maintained at the location. American Foods Group, LLC has a unique opportunity for a Project Controls Engineer.    Summary This Project Controls Engineer is a key member of the project build team for development and construction of the company’s new facility in Warren County, MO.  The role is responsible for project controls related to the construction budget and construction schedule.  The position serves as gatekeeper to the schedule and oversees the use/updating of the construction management software used for project management.  The position works closely with the general contractor project team as well as company project team members to ensure alignment with the overall project schedule.  The position provides input/feedback to project leadership and the project finance team to ensure project invoicing is in line with actual work completion.   As Project Controls Engineer you will: - Provide leadership to the project team in cost control, scheduling, and cost forecasting. - Provide subject matter expertise in budgeting and scheduling areas of the project through use of existing methodologies and software tools. - Ensure design and construction activities align with total cost of ownership methodologies. - Support project scope development, initial costing of project, and negotiation through the bid process. - Work with project controller for budget updates and utilization resource scheduling. - Coordinate with outside engineering firms on design of facility. - With the project team, work with local and state agencies through permitting process for new facility. - Identify and recommend potential process improvements to construction practices along with potential process improvements to the facility’s operation. - Lead development of scheduling and provide on-going oversight of project schedule for AFG vendors and general contractor. - Lead change management processes for scope or schedule changes for budget/cost control. - Work with construction manager(s) to communicate budget and schedule status to overall project team members. - Work with project team members in development of construction contracts and scope of work development. - Work with AFG vendors in development of project schedules for integration into master project schedule. - Work with project team and operations team to develop commissioning and startup plans for project. - Work with corporate engineering team to ensure equipment and construction practices are in alignment with corporate standards for construction. - Help project team ensure contractors are performing work in accordance with all safety guidelines for American Foods Group and OSHA requirements. - NOTE: this description is not intended to be all-inclusive. American Foods Group, LLC has a unique opportunity for a Human Resources Manager - Plant Build Team to join the  team for our new AFG manufacturing facility in Warren County, Missouri. This is an amazing opportunity to build a Human Resources function from the ground up for a state of the art beef harvest facility just west of St. Louis, Missouri.  The ideal candidate is someone who wants to get in at the very start to plan and build the function,  and then transition to the HR leader for the facility when it is fully operational.     Summary This role will support the new plant build team and will transition into the Human Resource Manager position for the plant.  As HR lead, you will partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy as it relates to building and staffing the new  plant.  The focus will be on working with corporate HR and plant leadership to stand up the HR function for the new plant, then  building and executing the staffing and training plan for the plant as it ramps up to a 1300+ person facility.      The role will report to the build team initially and ultimately  to the operational leader of the plant with a functional reporting relationship to the AFG corporate Human Resources department.  S/he will have the opportunity to create a strategy to optimize HR performance within the plant that will achieve success by  turning new strategies, processes and systems into people results that are the envy of the industry. The position will deliver the full range of HR services to plant management and employees, including recruitment, hiring, development, employee engagement and relations, and total rewards, as well as compliance with established human resource policies and systems, and applicable laws and regulations.   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Strategically design, build and deliver all necessary HR services, programs and initiatives aligned with the plant’s business strategy and AFG’s Human Resources strategy.  Act as a business partner, strategic solution provider, advisor, and counselor for the plant leadership team. - Effectively manage, communicate, and build relationships with a culturally diverse workforce from plant hourly associates through the plant supervisory and management team. American Foods Group, LLC has a unique opportunity for a Construction Safety Manager to join the plant build team for our new AFG manufacturing facility in Warren County, Missouri.    Summary This Construction Safety Manager role will support the plant build team and transition into the EHS Safety Specialist position for the plant.  As the safety lead, you will partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the safety strategies as the plant ramps up. Additionally, this role will continuously improve the site EHS programs.    As Construction Safety Manager you will: - Be responsible for overseeing all contractors/vendors that AFG is accountable for as part of the overall project.  - Develop construction safety plan and work closely with Gray Construction safety leads. - Lead weekly safety meetings with AFG contractors and provide safety updates to project build team and AFG corporate leadership team.  - Lead safety orientation sessions with all contractors. - Perform regular site inspections and walk thrus to identify and correct potential hazards and risks. - Oversee insurance certificates, auditing of contractor safety programs, and on-site permits. - Manage company safety and environmental policies and procedures, as well as ensure the Company is in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DNA regulations. - Offer new ideas while being conscientious, self-starting, and striving for excellence in all areas of job responsibilities. - Key member of the plant’s build team and provide technical EHS support. - Assurance of compliance to all regulations and standards at site. Primary point of contact for safety and environmental issues. - Investigate industrial accidents and incidents. Drive investigations to the root cause of issues and build consensus with both plant and corporate partners on permanent solutions.   These solutions need to be created in a timely manner. - Maintain liaison with national, state, and local safety and environmental organizations and take an active role in activities of such groups. Maintain federal, state, and local safety and environmental record keeping and permit requirements.  Must be proactive in meeting all regulatory deadlines in both safety and environmental compliance reporting. - Be engaged with all site contractors and sub-contractors  Use the relationships that you build to coordinate and conduct training to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations. - Primary contact person for inspection conducted by local, state, and federal safety and environmental enforcement agencies. - Perform industrial hygiene monitoring as needed. - Facilitate safety awareness across the construction site.
