If you are looking to advance your career, join the AFG family where you can be a part of providing quality beef products to over 40 countries around the world.   As our Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising daily activities of the assigned production process to ensure efficient production of wholesome quality products, the safety of our staff, and that employees follow established rules and procedures.    Essential Functions and Responsibilities: - Responsible for supervising 21 or more production employees within the facility - Coordinates and supervises daily activities of the assigned production process to ensure efficient production and safety - Ensures that employees follow established rules and procedures - Advises departments of work that needs to be completed  - Maintain adequate crewing to meet production requirements - Reports yields and other applicable product information as required - Direct production to maintain and/or improve operating efficiency - Resolves problems for the operations department - Familiar with production reports and daily production schedules - Ensure all products are produced to customer specifications and food safety standards - Issues discipline as needed - Train and enforce GMP’s - Helps plant comply with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements and procedures - Monitor downtime and seek ways to reduce downtime - Assists with creating production reports and daily production schedules - Good communication and interpersonal skills required - Assist with employee development as it pertains to acquiring job skills, proper protective equipment uses and care, proper company procedures and practices, etc. - Provides job performance feedback and correction instruction - Teaches and demonstrates company’s commitment to safety and quality of work NOTE: This description is not intended to be all-inclusive. This is a hands-on position that is heavily engaged in day-to-day production activities manufacturing millions of pounds of beef on an annual basis. Individuals in the trainee program will work with experienced employees to learn all aspects of Harvest (Barn, Hide-On, Hide-Off, and Variety Meats), Fabrication (Boning and Packaging), and Quality Assurance (GMPs, HACCP, SQF, SOPs, SSOPs, etc.).   Operations Management Trainees are expected to effectively lead and develop assigned employees to efficiently produce a high-quality product. They will work cross functionally with the Plant Manager, and Vice President of Operations in the day-to-day management of the production Process of the facility.  Further advancement opportunities depend on individual leadership, management ability and the capacity to assume greater responsibility.   Responsibilities: - Work in different departments alongside supervisors and employees to learn, understand and positively impact production operations - Partner with other managers to plan and direct the work of the organization - Analyze Company reports to analyze efficiencies, profit and inventory activity - Manage daily production, yields, and downtime - Identify trends and recommend proactive or remedial action to manage business situations - Expertise in government statuettes, law and regulations and company policies, procedures and guidelines - Work with and through management to develop and implement actions that protect company assets and profitability or set policies and procedures - Train and develop management skills while leading and motivating others - Interpret, apply and/or enforce all company policies, programs, rules, regulations and safety rules in support of departmental and corporate goals for safety, quality and production - Active involvement in employee safety and ensuring overall safety in the workplace - Foster an environment conducive to achieving continuous improvement - Proven ability to build strong teams and interact at all levels of the plant, including front line employees - Attend or lead presentations, meetings, classes or training and create projects or presentations; take tests if applicable - Interact with vendors, suppliers or customers NOTE: This description is not intended to be all inclusive.
