Skylark Meats, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, has an opportunity for a Lead (Brands) Indirect at our Omaha, NE plant.
As a Lead (Brands) Indirect, you will:
- Supervise shipping and receiving of all product to and from Skylark Meats.
- Watch over the inventory (dates, qualities, etc.)
- Communicate with shag driver to get trailers here from the drop lot and live loads backed into the doors to get loaded/unloaded.
- Monitor the loading and unloading of vehicles transporting materials used in food processing, looking for any evidence of tampering, foreign objects, and suspicious alterations in shipping/receiving documents.
- Examine orders for errors and special shipping instructions.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of facility including docks, freezers, coolers, outside grounds, etc.
- Monitor condensation of doorways and underneath ammonia pipes.
- Provide assistance and training with scan guns and scan systems.
- Manage dock staff (schedules, time off requests, payroll reports, etc.).

Job Overview:
The Operations Manager Trainee program will provide an extensive training experience surrounding the areas of Safety, Quality, and Business Operations. The training rotation will last up to 2 years. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be provided an opportunity to move into a Supervisor or Manager role at one of our locations.
Key Tasks:
- Work in different departments alongside supervisors and employees to learn, understand and positively impact production operations.
- Partner with other managers to plan and direct the work of the organization.

Skylark Meats LLC, an American Foods Group Company, has opportunities for 1st shift General Production at our Omaha, NE plant.
As General Production, you will:
- Work in a wet, cold and damp environment doing a variety of tasks such as handling raw meat and packing product in boxes.
- Duties will vary depending on position placed in and production requirements.
- May require the use of the tools/equipment (i.e. knife and/or hook).
- Perform physical tasks which require upper body strength and constant repetitive movements.
- Stand on hard surfaces the entire shift; use of stairs and personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in all areas of the facility.

Summary:
This position will be responsible for the entire development process of new products from the initial planning phase to implementation and/or production. They will lead product improvement initiatives and process optimization for existing products while ensuring labeling and regulatory compliance. This role reports to the VP of FSQA but will work collaboratively with other functional areas such as Sales, Marketing and Operations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate among Product Management, Sales, Marketing and Operations in the development of new items from bench work all the way through the product launch process.
- Apply scientific and engineering principles in application, research, development, production, technology, quality, packaging, and processing.
- Ensure new product development projects fit in with existing manufacturing capabilities; work with operations to develop new processes and procedures where required to ensure successful scale up and production of products at manufacturing.
- Develop products that adhere to nutritional guidelines and conform to USDA regulations.
- Conduct shelf-life evaluations for new and existing products.
- Serve as chef/culinary support during product development as well as customer presentations when needed.
- Provide technical support to sales and to customers in the completion of key projects as well as technical sales contact with customers.
- Represent the Company at trade shows, technology meetings and other relevant situations through effective communications to targeted audiences.
- Keep abreast of new technical developments, product launches and market trends in the food industry.
- Organize product cuttings or tests with Sales/Marketing/Product Management/Operations to review new items and to obtain final approval.
- Work with Marketing on product labeling development and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Responsible for process flow and packaging for new products and product changes.
- Ensure that GS1 data sync initiatives meet customer requirements.

As our Food Safety Coordinator, you will:
- Conduct comprehensive annual HACCP reassessments including program review and functional audits of HACCP, SSOP, and pre-requisite programs and all supporting documents.
- Keep the plant updated on all HACCP Related notices and directives.
- Develop and lead the implementation of the SQF system.
- Manage the employee training process to ensure there is successful completion and implementation of all required trainings.
- Coordinate weekly SQF meetings with the Food Safety and Quality Assurance teams as needed.

- Be primary point of contact for safety issues.

- Follow up on accidents and injuries to ensure corrective actions are made in a timely manner.
- Act as liaison with national, state, and local safety organizations and take an active role in activities of such groups.
- Maintain federal, state, and local safety and environmental record keeping and permit requirements.
- Coordinate and conduct safety training to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
- Primary contact person for inspections conducted by local, state, and federal safety and environmental enforcement agencies.
