Jarvis Blade Sharpener

Job Summary

The Jarvis Blade Sharpener role requires basic knowledge of general maintenance, Jarvis equipment operation, including but not limited to; air knives, scribe saws, brisket saw, and wizard knives.  

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all company GMPs, safety policies and procedures.
• Setup and visually inspect and tests Jarvis machinery and equipment and tear down.
• Sharpen Jarvis & Bettcher blades.
• Listen for unusual sounds from Jarvis machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss. machine operation variations with supervisors or other personnel to diagnose problems or repair equipment.
• Replace blades for Jarvis equipment on the floor during production.
• Responding to radio calls from production teams for assistance.
• Dismantle defective Jarvis machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings gears, and other parts of Jarvis machinery.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Ability to learn mechanical systems and food manufacturing processes.
• Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to read and execute work orders, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals.
• Read, write, and orally communicate in English and ability to work with no or little supervision.
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled.

objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

• Occasionally lift and or move up to 70 pounds.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds utilizing the buddy system or specifically designed lifting devices.
• Specific vision includes close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
