Overview

Internship Dates: Full Time for approximately 12 weeks (May - August).  Position may extend through expected graduation date. 

 

The GMP Facilities & Process Engineer Intern will be the lead professional responsible for the equipment, utilities, and new processes within the nutraceutical manufacturing facility. New production lines and equipment changes will need careful evaluation and planning before implementation. The GMP Facilities & Process Engineer Intern will be the person to provide this planning and expertise to move these projects to completion. You will coordinate and manage contractor work within the facility. This role will also oversee the maintenance and care for all major pieces of equipment within the facility by tracking work completed by both internal personnel and contractors.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design, installation, and qualification of major equipment upgrades throughout the facility.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to the leadership team for equipment purchasing decisions.
  • Develop project plans which include scope, schedule, and related budget.
  • Assist in procurement of equipment, accessories, and balance of systems.
  • Develop and ensure execution of Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) for all major pieces of equipment.
  • Provide expertise on equipment setup and parameters to the Operations team.
  • Coordinate and manage all contractor work on site.
  • Provide detailed documentation of all equipment, process, and procedural changes through the established change control system.
  • Develop and maintain a system to manage the maintenance and care of major equipment within the facility.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive pest management system for the facility.
  • Drive process improvements through Six Sigma or related methodologies.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED):

  • Must be at least 21 years of age by the start of the internship.
  • Must have completed your Junior year at a credited College or University.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Have the desire and ability to work well both independently and cross functionally.
  • Are willing to engage others through strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Are an inquisitive individual that has a desire to gain knowledge through experience.
  • Ability to perform all duties required in both office and manufacturing environments wearing proper PPE.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from working location.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS

  • Computer literacy and strong skills with Office 365.
  • Expertise in GMP regulations (specifically 21 CFR Part 111).
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
  • Understanding of GMP, HACCP, and FDA Dietary Supplements regulations.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Must be a dependable person, with a team-first mentality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Must be capable of leading and championing change within the team.
  • Must be able to identify, prioritize, and carry to completion all relevant tasks.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry > 50 lbs./22 kgs.
  • Proficiency in English, Preferred Bi-lingual English/Spanish.
