Overview

Job Summary
The QA Lead Fabrication is responsible for ensuring product safety, quality, and compliance on the harvest and fabrication floor through monitoring, auditing, and documenting any conformities and nonconformities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities for the Quality Assurance department and works closely with local and regional USDA/FSIS authorities, customer’s representatives (if needed), and auditors.
  • Update, maintain, and implement pertinent regulatory documents and records, product specifications, and quality assurance records.
  • Enforce and monitor animal welfare and quality programs for products manufactured.
  • Monitor the acceptance criteria for our product and control the disposition of nonconformance.
  • Assist with assuring all products produced in the plant meet or exceed customer requirements for quality.
  • Provide leadership for the Quality Assurance department while developing and maintaining effective employee relations.
  • Responsible for crewing, scheduling, and training of Quality Assurance employees.
  • Participate in plant management and operational meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Quality Assurance / Food Safety experience in the meat industry.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in Spanish (read, write, and speak).
  • Strong project and time management, and conflict resolution skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to monitor and take action to enforce for all food safety, SQF rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), Sanitization Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs),
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), pre-requisite programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to attend work consistently.
  • Ability to work safely, wear PPE, and follow safety rules.
  • Display a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Be adaptable and dependable with the ability to follow direction and work in cooperation with others.
  • Be attentive to detail.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Follow all food safety and SQF rules.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be assertive and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform consistent, accurate work with minimal direction and work successfully as part of a team.

Summary

America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
