Overview

Job Summary

As a Distribution Supervisor you will be responsible for directing, controlling, and coordinating a team of individuals to create a positive work environment with a high morale. In addition, developing good working relationships which reflects a commitment to safety (human and food), along with product quality, while maintaining constructive relations through company values and behaviors in action.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating the ability to provide leadership & oversee the day-to-day operation, perform administrative duties, and ensure that objectives are being met. 
  • Keep the Distribution Manager informed on all operational aspects the distribution process while working to achieve established operational metrics. 

Training and Leadership Development

  • Staff, train, evaluate, and develop team members.
  • Conduct line meetings.
  • Promote and drive succession development within area of responsibility.
  • Encourage professional team building.

Supervisory Functions

  • Participate in operational meetings.
  • Create SOP's.
  • Evaluate departmental work performance and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Use Kronos reporting information to establish crewing shortages.
  • Manage inventory movement and scheduling. (Communicating with employees on tasks that need to be completed).
  • Ensure adherence to delivery standards, efficiencies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot areas to minimize downtime during production.
  • Serve as liaison between distribution and sales.

Safety and Quality Assurance

  • Perform SQF checks in area of responsibility to assure all assignments are being completed.
  • Constantly monitor department for cleanliness / housekeeping.
  • Ensure that product contamination is kept to a minimum. 
  • Conduct job specific training to guarantee the proper operation of equipment.
  • Follow and monitor proper safety equipment usage and safety practices.
  • Perform thorough accident investigations as necessary.
  • Holding monthly safety meetings and group discussions to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, laws, and industry standards.
  • Maintain a helpful and professional attitude and appearance.

Administrative Duties

  • Report policy infractions and being involved with taking the appropriate disciplinary steps.
  • Issue disciplinary action in accordance with company standard practices and procedures.
  • Verify labor hours (Kronos) to ensure all department crewing and payroll report accuracy.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English (speak, read, and write).
  • 3-5 years prior experience in distribution and warehouse operations (FIFO, Scanning, Locations, etc.) within a beef, pork, or poultry facility.
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Extensive traveling which may include extended stays at plant sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diploma or GED. 
  • Prior experience with YMS, WMS & ERP systems.
  • Bi-lingual (speaking, reading, and writing). Fluency in Spanish, Karenni, French, & Creole is highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Display a strong work ethic and a professional attitude and appearance. 
  • Must have a high math aptitude; be assertive; and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to overcome reasonable obstacles. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be assertive and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to perform consistent, accurate work with minimal direction while working successfully as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn YMS, WMS & ERP systems. 
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead by example, encourage teamwork and learning, and motivate the workforce.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, desk phones, and smartphones.  The position will also be required to regularly visit production facility work environments.

Summary

America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
