Overview

America’s Service Line, an American Foods Group Company, has an opportunity for a Senior Manager Safety and Compliance, with responsibility for managing and supporting its transportation safety and compliance programs.

 

As a Senior Manager Safety and Compliance you will:

  • Be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and all regulatory agencies. Ensure overall compliance with state and federal regulations regarding the company's transportation and fleet operations including driver qualification files, hours of service, and DOT drug and alcohol program. Monitor changes in regulations and update policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Partner and select third party safety and compliance companies, where necessary, to maintain fleet regulatory compliance including driver qualification files, IFTA/IRP filings, DOT drug and alcohol testing, and training.
  • Identify and manage the development and implementation of comprehensive fleet safety programs and telematics to minimize accidents and injuries as well as monitor driver behavior and vehicle performance.
  • Leverage existing and emerging technologies that will streamline processes and increase efficiency.
  • Promote a positive safety culture that rewards and recognizes safe driving and working behaviors.
  • Oversee and implement company's accident and injury investigation process including coordination of reporting, investigation, documentation, and management.
  • Manage the successful adherence to FMCSA Safety Management System - Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories (BASICs). Ensure system data is correct and file Data Qs as needed. Communicate results and trends to transportation leadership and work collaboratively to improve results.
  • Implement certification programs for drivers, ensuring they meet necessary qualifications and standards.
  • Provide performance reports on a regimented cadence and collaborate with Fleet Operations to identify drivers requiring additional training and education.
  • Work with operations and maintenance on fleet safety awareness, education, and incentive programs.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • 7 years of fleet safety and compliance experience (or transportation management experience) required. Disciplined approach to managing compliance and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local fleet, safety and worker’s compensation requirements (DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, DWD, etc.)
  • Experience managing drivers and driving adherence to safety regulations.
  • 5 years of team management experience required.
  • Knowledge and experience with transportation systems and technology including but not limited to driver qualification files, IFTA/IRP filings, DOT drug and alcohol testing, and training. Technology savvy.
  • Business mindset, forward thinking and open-minded to innovative ideas and technology.
  • The ability to lead, train, collaborate, and influence team members to improve safety performance.
  • Able to see potential in people and develop team members and safety culture.
  • Ability to travel at 15% and work irregular hours as needed to interface with team members across all shifts.
  • Ability to understand latest industry trends and their potential impact.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Operational knowledge of managing a fleet size of 100+ trucks, preferred though not required.
  • Experience with over-the-road driving/Class A CDL license preferred.
