Overview

Skylark Meats LLC, an American Foods Group company has opportunities for Building Maintenance at our Omaha plant.

 

As our Maintenance Mechanic, you will:

  • Safely perform repairs and preventative maintenance on production floor and facility.

  • Work efficiently with production staff to support the day to day production processes with a sense of urgency.

  • Troubleshoot and rebuild on all types of food packaging machinery, motors, and similar devices.

  • Work safely with hydraulic, pneumatic, and thermal energies.

  • Report any deficiencies to a supervisor in a timely manner.

  • Maintain minimal production down time and solutions to reduce down time.

  • Correct use of lockout/tagout program.

  • Account for tools, utensils and other potentially dangerous equipment that are distributed daily.

  • Attend documented training on company procedures.

  • Keep the maintenance shop and all work areas clean and organized.

  • Follow all HACCP, SSOP’s, SOP’s, and GMP policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Working maintenance experience and training in the food processing industry which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job. 
  • Ability to work extended scheduled hours Monday through Saturday with daily overtime. Must be able to work overtime as required.  Start times and hours vary based on production needs.
  • Must be able to successfully complete training:
    • Safety.
    • Safe Quality Food (SQF).
    • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
    • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Food defense.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior maintenance experience in a USDA inspected beef, pork or poultry facility.
  • Prior production experience.
  • Work history in the last 12 months.
