Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Fosters communication between Infrastructure and End User Services team.
  • Presents recommendations to leadership in a clear and professional manner to assist in informed decision making.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to users.
  • Relies on experience, and judgement to perform the functions of the job.
  • May lead and direct others.
  • Exhibits a wide degree of creativity.
  • Follows security architecture standards, frameworks, and guidelines. Emphasizes infrastructure security for best practices and ensures adoption across corporate solutions.
  • Leads in troubleshooting network and server platform issues.
  • Participates in infrastructure developed strategy planning as needed.
  • Incorporates infrastructure developed strategies into new technology business initiatives.
  • Understands the relationships between various systems – networking, server, EDI, manufacturing, etc. and considers all stakeholders when reviewing business needs.
  • Research emerging technologies to assess fit for business needs.
  • May be responsible for leading and directing infrastructure related projects and project teams.
  • Translate business requirements into written designs in line with AFG and industry standards.
  • Become the subject matter expert on one or more technologies supported by assigned team.
  • Follows project testing and implementation plans and project timelines.
  • Recommends, reviews, and creates documentation as needed for any new or changed project or technology.
  • Ensures systems are adequately tuned, patched, and monitored to meet design specs at optimal levels.
  • Performs troubleshooting to remedy network and server performance issues.
  • Implements upgrades, patches, new applications, and installation of infrastructure components.
  • Leverages proof-of-concept engineering initiatives for system additions or changes.
  • Leverages and follows the change management process.
  • Follows project testing and implementation plans and project timelines.
  • Designs and implements monitoring systems to support enterprise infrastructure.
  • Participates in capacity and performance management of existing infrastructure.
  • Reviews and participates in business continuity and disaster recovery strategy development.
  • Follows standards for monitoring all in scope systems, applications, security, and network configurations.
  • Reviews systems to report on inconsistencies between design and actual functionality.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or in an equivalent area of specialty.
  • 4+ years’ experience in the field or related area.
  • 2+ years’ experience as an Infrastructure Administrator.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or in an equivalent area of specialty.
  • Certification(s) in area of specialty.
  • 2+ years’ experience as a team lead or project management.
  • Prior audit experience audit (e.g., SOX, SOC1, ISO, PCI, HIPPA).
  • Proficiency in ITIL 2.0 or later framework.
  • Prior experience in DR / Business Continuity planning and exercises.
  • Experience documenting, project tracking and management reporting.
  • Experience or exposure to appropriate systems such as:
    • Windows Server operating systems.
    • Cloud Services: Microsoft Azure preferred.
    • Azure Active Directory and on-prem Active Directory.
    • Intune.
    • Virtualization Platforms: VMware 6.5+, Hyper-V, XenServer.
    • Server and Storage hardware solutions: Co-Lo, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.
    • A variety of application solutions (e.g., web, database, etc.).
    • Security solutions: IAM, Multi-factor Auth, PAM, SEIM, Pen Testing, Vulnerability Scanning.
    • Infrastructure monitoring tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within field.
  • Strong technical aptitude, creativity, and ability to research and solve complex issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work both alone and within a team and established standards.
