Quality Assurance Intern - Midwest Research Swine (Summer 2022)

Location: Midwest Research Swine (MRS) - Glencoe, MN

Internship Dates: Full Time for approximately 12 weeks (May – August 2022)


As a Quality Assurance Intern, you will gain knowledge and understanding of the business through hands on activities, coaching, and projects. A few learning opportunities include:

  • Harvest, Fabrication and Tissue room observations, inspections and, recording of inspection and results of the following but not limited to:
    • Critical Control Point Inspections (Harvest and Fabrication).
    • Quat Audits.
    • Pre-Operational Inspection Activities.
    • Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures.
    • Animal Welfare.
    • Temperature Monitoring.
    • Deficiencies noticed that relate to GMPs.
    • Microbiology Swab Program.
  • Review end of day paperwork.
  • Monitor finish goods production dates for HACCP Guidelines.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must have completed your Junior year at a credited College or University.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Have the desire and ability to work well both independently and cross functionally.
  • Are willing to engage others through strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Are an inquisitive individual that has a desire to gain knowledge through experience.
  • Ability to perform all duties required in both office and manufacturing environments wearing proper PPE.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from working location.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous knowledge in quality assurance, SQF, GMP, SOP, HACCP.
  • Knowledge and experience in manufacturing and/or harvesting environment with a preference toward food manufacturing/processing.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and efficiency are key components.
  • Ability to be self-motivated.
  • Ability to ensure quality product to our customers.
